Coupling water, fire and climate resilience with biomass production from forestry to adapt watersheds to climate change
September 2020
Progress made on the development of "C.A.F.E.", the Decision Support System to improve forest management and eco-resiliency
The work on the full development of the Decision Support System is progressing smoothly and here we would like to underline some of them:
Python was chosen as programming language: Python is one of the most widely used programming languages, can build and integrate all the components of the DSS tool, has good packages for building its graphical part and interacting with other software, and its use its relatively easy compared to its possibilities.
Graphic visualization: given the huge amount of results and data produced by the DSS tool, a proper graphic visualization is crucial for decision-making. J3 application was chosen for this purpose.
Below you can see some examples of the graphic visualization of optimal solutions calculated by the Dss tool after its computation
Webinar on “Innovative solutions for forest management”: video and presentation
In covid19 time we have been forced to cancel and postpone all our physical events and meetings, however this was the chance to turn fully virtual!
On the 27th May 2020, the LIFE project Resilient Forests has organized an online webinar to present before a wide audience the first encouraging project results and show how the DSS tool “C.A.F.E.” works
Our effort on disseminating project's activities continues (in a virtual form). On the 28th of October we are waiting for you at the second webinar organized by RF partners. This time we will focus more on how the DSS "C.A.F.E." can be parctically used and we will devote more time to answering your question and doubts.
The project LIFE RESILIENT FORESTS – Coupling water, fire and climate resilience with biomass production from forestry to adapt watersheds to climate change is co-funded by the LIFE Programme of the European Union under contract number LIFE 17 CCA/ES/000063.
